Who Are We?

Jane Peckenham is the founder and owner of Moving-On.

Moving Moms

When Jane's mother moved from her five bedroom home of 47 years, Jane flew across the country to help. At that time she and her sister discovered a company in southern California that specialized in senior move management, which was a new concept to them. Jane and her sister met with the senior move manager and decided to use the unpack service. In the meantime, they chose the furniture to be moved and packed and moved their mother into her two room apartment quite easily. But what followed was literally months of disposing of the remaining items from their mother's large home. Less than a year later, Jane went through the same experience with her mother-in-law. Both women were lucky to have the support and know-how of their families. But it took an enormous toll on their families' lives and schedules.

Bringing It All Home

When Jane returned to New York she realized no one offered a senior move management service in Westchester County, so she began her company, Moving-On, to address this need in the New York area.

She also joined the newly-formed National Association for Senior Move Managers (www.nasmm.com) which is an educational and information based organization made up of senior move managers all over the US and Canada. With the help of NASMM, members can assist clients who are moving out of state or across the country.

Jane is currently a NASMM Board member and Chairs the Ethics Committee.  She is a member of the Northern Westchester Geriatric Association and the Central Westchester Geriatric Association, and is a member of the Business Council of Westchester.  Jane is a Certified Relocation Transition Specialist.
